Wharton Center has officially announced their 2024-2025 Broadway series! It kicks off with Les Misérables, followed by Shucked, MJ, Life of Pi and Chicago. Add-on shows include Hamilton and The Book of Mormon.

Wharton Center for Performing Arts presents the 11th annual Sutton Foster Awards. The awards program is a state-wide educational initiative celebrating Michigan high school musical theatre and is a flagship educational initiative of Wharton Center.

It’s one of the most anticipated times of the year at Wharton Center; the announcement of the new Broadway season. Tickets can be purchased as part of a subscription package starting Monday, April 10, at 10AM. 

Eric Olmscheid has been selected to serve as executive director of Michigan State University’s Wharton Center for Performing Arts. Olmscheid currently serves as director of programming at Des Moines Performing Arts and will assume his new role at Wharton Center on June 22, 2022.

Des Moines Performing Arts is thrilled to announce that 60 schools will participate in this year's Iowa High School Musical Awards, nearly double last year's number. A statewide initiative, the Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards is a yearlong education program that celebrates the extraordinary achievements of young musical theater artists. The program has continued to grow by leaps and bounds since nine schools first participated during its inaugural year in 2012.

The annual Broadway League Awards, honoring excellence and achievement for Touring Broadway, were announced today during the Broadway League's 2016 Spring Road Conference. First presented in 1992, the Broadway League Awards recognize the contributions of those who have displayed exemplary service to the Broadway industry and are considered innovators of their craft.

The 6th Annual National High School Musical Awards presented the coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor on Monday, June 30 at Broadway's Minskoff Theater, to Jai' Len Josey representing the Georgia High School Musical Theater Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards and Jonah Rawitz, representing the Illinois High School Musical Theater Awards. The Broadway League announced today the recipients of its fourteenth annual National Education Grants. These grants support innovative programs that enable students from coast to coast to experience touring Broadway as a form of artistic expression and as an educational tool.
