Review: DEATHTRAP at Turner Theater (Feb 10, 2026)

BIO

Devon Renee Spencer has worked in professional costume design for over 25 years in theater, film, and television. She studied at Radford University and pursued graduate work in Costume Design at UCLA before launching a diverse career with major Hollywood studios. Her film credits include Men in Black II, Fast & Furious, Iron Man II, and Dreamgirls, along with several HBO series including The Sopranos, Big Love, and Carnivàle, which earned her an Emmy nomination. She costumed Nashville (ABC/CMT) for three seasons and has styled many national commercials, recently tailoring for Billie Eilish. Locally, she has designed for Nashville Children's Theatre and Studio Tenn’s productions of Aida, The Sound of Music, and this season’s Crimes of the Heart. Jersey Boys marked her first production in her new role as Resident Costume Designer, and she is thrilled to continue her passion for storytelling through costume.

Deathtrap is a two-act stage play by Ira Levin (The Stepford Wives & Rosemary’s Baby) that premiered on Broadway in 1978 at the Music Box Theatre under the direction of Robert Moore. It holds the record as the longest-running comedy-thriller on Broadway, and Tony nominations for Best Play, Best Actor (Victor Garber), and Best Direction (Robert Moore).
