DAVID GURSKY is a New York City-based theater composer, conductor and pianist. He is the composer of the musical PALM BEACH, which had its world premiere on the mainstage of the La Jolla Playhouse in June 2005, directed by Des McAnuff.?
?David is also the composer of the musical stage adaptations of the MGM films HEARTBREAKERS and THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, both commissioned by MGM On Stage. HEARTBREAKERS was presented in the National Alliance For Musical Theater's ?2010 Festival of New Musicals, directed by Christopher Ashley. On film, David contributed a song for the feature film IRA & ABBY.On Broadway, David was recently the Music Director of DAMES AT SEA and the Conductor of THE NANCE, starring Nathan Lane. He has conducted several other Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, such as THE PRODUCERS, ANYTHING GOES, FINIAN'S RAINBOW, WHITE CHRISTMAS, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, JANE EYRE, FOREVER PLAID and FORBIDDEN BROADWAY. He also appeared on stage as "The Fingers on the Keyboard" with Dame Edna Everage in her Tony Award-winning Broadway debut production, DAME EDNA: THE ROYAL TOUR. On national tour, David has led the orchestras of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, THE PRODUCERS and BIG. Regionally, he conducted A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM at the St. Louis Muny Opera, as well as several companies of FOREVER PLAID from coast to coast. For television, he conducted THE WONDER PETS. David holds a B.A. in Music from Yale University.

Douglas Carter Beane's 2013 drama The Nance, produced by Lincoln Center Theater and headlined by two-time Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane, is currently playing in more than 300 movie theatres in the U.S. and Canada for a limited run during Gay Pride Week in many cities. In The Nance, celebrated playwright Douglas Carter Beane tells the story of Chauncey Miles (Nathan Lane), a headline nance performer in the twilight of New York burlesque's era. Integrating burlesque sketches into his drama, Beane paints the portrait of a homosexual man living and working in the secretive and dangerous gay world of 1930's New York, whose outrageous antics on the burlesque stage stand in marked contrast to his messy offstage life.
