A deeply personal and moving intergenerational story of a close-knit family's experience with deafness, MOONLIGHT SONATA: DEAFNESS IN THREE MOVEMENTS explores the meaning of loss through the stories of a deaf boy growing up, a deaf man growing old, and perhaps the world's most famous deaf person, Ludwig van Beethoven, who crafted a sonata that would resonate across time and cultures.
Summer has finally arrived, which means it's time for the return of Utah's outdoor movie tradition, now in its 22nd year! The nonprofit Sundance Institute will once again celebrate the season and Utah's natural beauty with free screenings of eleven Sundance Film Festival favorites, taking place in Salt Lake City, Park City, Ogden, St. George and, new this year, Coalville. Heading into the annual SXSW festival, Starz Digital Media has snagged the rights to the film, To Be Takei. The documentary about pop-culture icon George Takei premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival and was directed by Jennifer M. Kroot (It Came from Kuchar). The company has acquired all rights for U.S. and Canada. The company will distribute with a theatrical release planned for 2014. The announcement was made today by Kevin Kasha, Head of Acquisitions for Starz.
