BIO

Andrew Bailes is a Chicago-based actor and writer. He's had the immense pleasure of working with Chicago dell'Arte, the side project, Steep Theater, Strawdog Theatre Company, Tympanic, and Victory Gardens. Film credits include No Resolution, directed by Tim Kasher. Andrew has twice performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, traveling to Scotland with Wishbone Theatre Collective and, most recently, Forks & Hope. As an improviser, Andrew has collaborated with the Annoyance and Chicago Improv Studio. He received an MFA in Acting from the University of Florida. Prior to UF, Andrew was a Resident Actor and Teaching Artist at Florida Studio Theater. Andrew regularly contributes to HowlRound Journal and can also be found at www.andrew-bailes.com. He is proudly represented by Gray Talent Group.

After four years as a resident company in Strawdog Theatre's Hugen Hall, The Forks & Hope Ensemble is producing their first fully devised work at Jackalope's Frontier this August. A Hero's Journey uses Joseph Campbell's 'hero's journey' theory to explore humanity's impulse to tell and re-tell stories of mythological heroes. Using the ensemble's trademark playful, movement-based aesthetic, each performer goes on their own heroic journey, which reveals parallels to their own lives. Audience members can expect to meet epic characters like Odysseus, King Sejong, and Psyche on a human scale in an intimate, imaginative setting.
