The magician is sick in bed but the show must go on! Enter, The Magicians Assistant, who blunders onstage and has to entertain the crowd, without knowing how to perform any magic tricks. This adult friendly physical comedy for kids 3-10 is about the transformative power of believing in yourself and asking for help. The Magician's Assistant encourages empathy, laughter, and eating your veggies!
Pre show activities and video projections and animation by Ingrid Larson add an extra dose of unexpected folly to the show.

Mélissa Smith is a Brooklyn based performer and Teaching artist who created and performs The Magicians Assistant. You can sometimes catch her playing bass with the Maine based band Bee Parks and the Hornets or at Nickelodeon Universe as the Emcee of their live stage show Slime Time Live! Meli began clowning as a humanitarian effort in South Florida over ten years ago and has gone on to clown in festivals, plays and musicals. She has trained with clowns from Ringling Bros, Big Apple Circus and Cirque De Solie and now leads workshops in physical comedy herself.
