FIRESIDE MYSTERY THEATRE PRESENTS The Couch Surfers: Harrowing Stays and Haunted Home Rentals A Live Recording of the Celebrated Podcast Book a haunted getaway with your friends at Fireside! Fireside Mystery Theatre, an acclaimed and award-winning audio theater production company, is proud to announce the world premiere of The Couch Surfers: Harrowing Stays and Haunted Home Rentals coming to New York City on Sunday, April 13th at 5pm (doors open at 4:30pm) at the Slipper Room. Now celebrating over a decade of podcast production, Fireside Mystery Theatre is an original audio podcast performed and recorded in front of a live audience. Styled in the fashion of old-time radio theatre with a decidedly modern macabre sensibility, the popular podcast has been running since 2014 with over three million downloads. Fireside has received accolades from The New York Times, TimeOut New York, and awards from the Rhode Island International Film Festival, New Jersey Web Fest, New Zealand Web Fest and many more. The Couch Surfers: Harrowing Stays and Haunted Home Rentals features three terrifying tales from the (thankfully fictional) booking platform, HavenShare. On the brink of ruin, the shady startup explores three of its most grisly cases of home-sharing gone horribly wrong: a Brooklyn apartment with a parade of gruesome guests, a haunted French Quarter mansion with a tantalizing locked room, and a remote cabin in the deep bear-filled woods. Notable Accolades: The New York Times hails Fireside Mystery Theatre as “a delightfully stylized variation of the classic ‘old timey radio’ tradition.” Popsugar says Fireside Mystery Theatre has “an incredible cast that brings to life stories you have to hear to believe.” About.com describes Fireside Mystery Theatre as “like a combination of listening to a cathedral radio and constructing scenes with your mind’s eye.” The Couch Surfers: Harrowing Stays and Haunted Home Rentals will be the second installment in their 2025 bi-monthly residency at The Slipper Room (167 Orchard St, New York, NY 10002) on NYC’s Lower East Side with a full cast, sound effects, an improvised musical score and musical acts that complement our anthology of stories. Tickets are $20 and available online at www.slipperroom.com, as well as at the door. For more information visit: www.firesidemysterytheatre.com.
