The music of Teddy Pendergrass is on tour! WATCH THE TEDDY PENDERGRASS BAND Original band members Robert "Wawa" LaGrand, Johnnie Croom and the Jolly brothers Bill & Brett are joined by powerhouse lead vocalist Don Connor with background vocals by Toni Trower. The band captures Teddy Pendergrass’ raw yet smooth and sexy energy performing hits including “Love T.K.O”, “Close The Door”, “Turn Off The Lights” and so many more. Teddy Pendergrass first came to the public's attention as frontman for Harold Melvin & the Blue notes before advancing onto his illustrious solo career. As a solo artist he created new standards for R&B artists and established himself as much more than a talented sex symbol but also an incredible song stylist and master of the genre. He set a record in R&B music by releasing five consecutive albums that went platinum, had chart topping singles, many of which were covered by other top recording stars and performed on multiple sold out tours.
On February 12th The Cutting Room NYC presents Teddy Pendergrass’ comeback tour original band reuniting for their 20th Anniversary. Black History Month presents the opportunity to celebrate the undeniable legacy of one of the greatest R&B/Soul singers of all-time and Valentine’s Day week is a perfect showcase for the romanticism of Teddy’s music to be heard live. Upcoming shows also include Sellersville, PA on February 26th and a Teddy birthday celebration in Philadelphia on March 26th.
In 1982 Pendergrass’ suffered a serious car accident leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. Not wanting to deny his own creativity and the signature sound so loved by his fans, he continued to release music and then in the early 2000’s he mounted a successful comeback tour, which kicked off with sold out shows in Atlantic City before his retirement in 2006. Pendergrass passed away in 2010 leaving behind an incredible body of work and cementing his place in music history.
The Teddy Pendergrass Band 20th Anniversary Reunion Tour is keeping the the passion and legacy of Teddy’s music in it’s rightful place, on stage to be enjoyed by his legions of fans. Other upcoming shows include Sellersville and Philadelphia, PA.
