“Little House” Melds Music, Theater, and the Unexpected in Two-Night Run at Asylum NYC

No script. No setlist. No safety net. Little House blurs the line between music, theater, and play — and you’re in it. On July 7 and July 22, Little House brings its singular brand of fully improvised performance to Asylum NYC for two evenings of genre-defying, audience-led musical creation.

The project—equal parts concert, theatrical experiment, and interactive experience—blends improvisational techniques from music, comedy, theater, and even sports into a responsive, live experience where the audience doesn't just watch the show; they co-create it.

“We aren’t bound by rigid structures or chord progressions,” says creator Christian “CC” Allen. “What we found is an art form that relies on the input of the audience and their experiences to shape what happens on stage—creating a show that erases the boundary between all of us.”

Each performance begins from zero—no songs, no script. Audience suggestions form the raw material for fully original compositions created in the moment. The ensemble listens, adapts, and builds live sonic worlds in real time, drawing inspiration from whatever arises. From whispered ideas to bold participation, the audience’s contributions shape everything from structure to tone.

Little House will play:

  • Monday, July 7 at 9:30pm — 60 minutes
  • Tuesday, July 22 at 7:30pm — 90 minutes with intermission
at Asylum NYC (123 E 24th St, New York, NY 10010)
Tickets range from $25 to $29 and are available at asylumtix.com/asylumnyc/LITTLE

Little House features a powerhouse of multi-instrumentalists:

  • Daniel Bennett, a saxophonist and NYC theater woodwind doubler whose work spans jazz, folk, and minimalism. He leads the Daniel Bennett Group, orchestrated for the Whitney Museum, and frequents the Blue Note, Zingari Jazz, and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
  • Adrien Pellerin, an NYC-based musical comedian who has music-directed numerous improvised musicals globally, including at the Edinburgh and Adelaide Fringe Festivals. He produces Shitzprobe, a monthly show where Broadway stars improvise musicals. His digital work includes series released by Comedy Central and Adult Swim.
  • Sid Whelan, a soulful NYC-born guitarist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose musical voice is steeped in the blues. Drawing from a lifetime of stories and scuffed guitars, Sid blends vintage tone with philosophical wit.
  • Christian "CC" Allen, a percussionist and educator based in NYC, whose eclectic resume includes the national tour of Elf: the Broadway Musical, work with the New Musicals Lab, Carnival Cruise Lines, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and tours of France and the Baltic States.

With each performance uniquely shaped by its audience, Little House invites listeners, dreamers, and risk-takers to take part in a musical happening where anything can unfold—and probably will.

“We want people to leave mystified, intrigued, wondrous, perplexed, inspired,” Allen says. “It’s a concert. But it’s also a conversation. And sometimes, a collective leap. You won’t believe what you hear.”
