Kids 'N Comedy, the New York program that has been training young comedians since 1996, marks its 30th anniversary with a showcase at Gotham Comedy Club on Sunday, May 17. Current students will perform live alongside alumni who have gone on to careers in television, film, and publishing, including Claire Friedman, a humor columnist for The New Yorker and Emmy-nominated, Peabody Award-winning writer for "Saturday Night Live"; Griffin Newman, known for the Amazon series "The Tick" and the "Blank Check" podcast; and Ryan Drum, a visual effects editor whose credits include the Oscar-nominated "Marty Supreme" and "Song Sung Blue." Singer-songwriter Gene Noble and actors Matt Pavich, Alejandro Kolleeny, Jameer Pond, Jon Cortizo, Mike Witzer, Jordan Rochelson, Frank Marsico, Rachel Resnik, Christopher Ferguson, and John Teufel will join the celebration.
Founded by Jo Ann Grossman and Stu Morden, the program gives students ages 10 to 18 real stage experience writing and performing original comedy at professional New York venues.
The showcase begins at noon, with an after-party from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Tickets are $25 plus taxes and fees at kidsncomedy.com/shows.
