Ry is a biracial playwright and this is his identity crisis play. Meet Barker, his pet Shih-Tzu, who also happens to be his spirit animal. Meet his Obachan who is crossing the Pacific to live with him. Meet Mother and Father who are trading cultures, meet siblings Johnny and Jenny, meet the house, the water demon under the sink, and the half-true ancestral curse.
Interabang investigates the fragmented self by mutating the Western family play into this debut hybrid performance that the artist’s mom really hopes isn’t successful so people don’t think it’s an accurate representation.
