Fast Forward provides opportunities for choreographers working in all dance forms to workshop 25 – 35 min pieces on a shared bill curated around a theme.
In September, Fast Forward’s theme is “Who is In-charge?.” Hanna Q Dance Company will present Little Red Riding Hood and Delineation Dance Company will present Assent.
Little Red Riding Hood (Hanna Q Dance Company)
Choreography by Johanna LjungQvist- Brinson
Stripping down the ancient tale, of the things that can happen when we get lost in the woods,Little Red Riding Hood is about what lies beneath our sexual disguises. A Girl, wrapped in innocence, can’t contain her physical awakening in the forest. A Wolf, who passes for a man, struggles against the loneliness he has been forced to conceal. And a Hunter, trapped by expectation, is unwilling to kill the animal that society says he must. Together, they come to terms with their troubled psyches. The story is told with choreography by Johanna (Hanna Q), music by her Parisian friend and composer Stephane Le Gouvello and the finale music by Elliot Moss.
Assent (Delineation Dance Company)
Choreography by Devon Smith
Assent is a contemporary fusion work inspired by the futuristic concept of a society being forced to morph into carbon copies of one another and the struggle to keep your own identity.
