New York cabaret singer and Four-time MAC Award nominee Richard Holbrook will be hosting and performing a tribute to the brilliant Broadway lyricist Alan Jay Lerner tomorrow, Wednesday, September 12th at 7:00 P.M. at The Barnes & Noble Bookstore (150 East 86th Street) in Manhattan. The program is called "Alan Jay Lerner: A Centennial Celebration". Richard will be joined by fellow cabaret singer Shana Farr and pianist Daryl Kojak. Also featured will be musical theater historian Robert Kimball (celebrated author of "The Complete Lyrics of Cole Porter"), singer-actress Margot Moser (who was the last performer to play Eliza Doolittle on Broadway in the original Broadway run of "My Fair Lady"), and annotator Amy Asch to discuss Alan Jay Lerner's brilliant career and legacy which is documented in the just released book "The Complete Lyrics of Alan Jay Lerner" (which Ms. Asch co-wrote with Dominic McHugh). This book is considered to be the definitive reference of some of the most beloved songs in Broadway and Hollywood history. In addition to the music and the discussion, there will be copies of the book available that can be purchased. To all musical theater lovers and fans of Alan Jay Lerner's work, this book is highly reommended. It is beautifully put together and has received excellent reviews.
