"Achilles in Drag" is a bold, hilarious, and heartfelt queer romp that resurrects one of mythology's most obscure stories. To dodge the Trojan War, Achilles fakes his death and reinvents himself as a woman on a lush island — until his heartbroken lover Patroclus uncovers the truth. Inspired by the bestselling novel "The Song of Achilles," this play bursts with romance, chaos, drag, and a deliciously messy royal love triangle.
Achilles in Drag, a new play by Jonno LaMont based on Madeline Miller's The Song of Achilles, runs at Under St. Marks Theatre as part of the Queerly Festival 2026, with an all Afro-descended, queer, and Caribbean cast. See photos!
