New York University's program in vocal performance will present a workshop production of the new musical Party Come Here -featuring a book by Daniel Goldfarb (Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, Radio Girl) and music and lyrics by David Kirshenbaum (Summer of '42, Vanities)-at The Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street [Subway: A, B, C, D, E, F, V (West Fourth Street)].
Performances are March 25-27 at 8:00 p.m. and March 28 at 3:00 p.m. For reservations, the public can email steinhardt.boxoffice@nyu.edu. Tickets are $15 general admission and $5 for students and senior citizens.A nervous groom, a selfish bride, an Olympic champion skier, a lascivious banker, a Brazilian bombshell, a statue of Christ, and a 500 year old Jewish cave man converge to make miracles happen during a tropical storm on one magical night in Rio de Janeiro.
The production will be directed by John Simpkins, with musical direction by Brian Usifer and choreography by Jennifer Werner. Rounding out the creative team are scenic designer Michael Schweikardt, costume designer Michelle Humphrey, lighting designer Randy Susevich, sound designer Craig Kaufman, and orchestrator Lynne Shankel. The cast and musicians will feature students from the department of music and performing arts professions at NYU's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
