Yu Wei Dance Collection Performs at Alden Theatre 4/9

The beauty of traditional Chinese culture and dance will be displayed at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 9, at McLean's Alden Theatre when Yu Wei Chinese Dance Collection performs. This performance was originally scheduled for early February, but was cancelled due to inclement weather. Tickets are $28, $10 for McLean tax district residents.
Virginia Opera Closes Season With PORGY AND BESS

Virginia Opera is wrapping up its 35th Anniversary Season with the scorching production of the Gershwins' Porgy and Bess. The production, also celebrating a famous 75th Anniversary, is a brave American classic bridging the gap between Broadway and opera. The clever love story between characters Porgy and Bess explodes with a fiery tempo, amid George and Ira Gershwin's distinguished style featuring jazz, Broadway, and opera. Porgy and Bess is based on DuBose Heyward's novel Porgy and the play of the same name he co-wrote with his wife Dorothy Heyward, which focuses on African-American life in the early 1920s in Catfish Row located in Charleston, South Carolina.

HE PRESBURY THEATRICAL TRAINING PROGRAM is a new 'theatre school' that will be offering a unique way for our community to learn about theatre! Through the process of putting together a FULL-SCALE PRODUCTION, students will learn all about the ins-and-outs of theatre, from memorizing lines to tap-dancing! Classes begin March and run through July, a total of 16 classes with a 'grand finale' month of productions!
