Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, CT is excited to be holding open call auditions for their upcoming production of THE BODYGUARD on Tuesday January 21 from 5:00 – 9:00 at 263 Golden Hill St in Bridgeport.

Open Call will be 5:00 – 7:00

Callbacks will be 7:00 – 9:00

We are seeking actors and singers of all ages, types, ethnicities, etc. to cover all principle and ensemble roles.

PLEASE NOTE: These are unpaid community theatre productions.

WHAT TO PREPARE

2 song selections (uptempo and ballad) approx 1 minute in length in the style of the show or from the show itself. An accompanist will be provided. All actors should bring a current headshot (or recent photo) and 1 page acting resume or list of theater/performing experience.

ABOUT THE SHOW

Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge; what they don’t expect is to fall in love. A breathtakingly romantic thriller and West End smash hit, The Bodyguard features a host of irresistible classics including “Queen of the Night,” “So Emotional,” “One Moment in Time,” “Saving All My Love,” “Run to You,” “I Have Nothing,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” and one of the biggest-selling songs of all time: “I Will Always Love You.”

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

MARISSA FOLLO PERRYMarissa is a Broadway star best known for her portrayal of Tracy Turnblad, Broadway’s favorite, fearless, dancing-machine, underdog in Hairspray. She was also one of the fierce and sassy, high belting nuns in the original Broadway cast of Sister Act. Marissa originated the role of Maria in the Off Broadway hit, My Big Gay Italian Funeral. Marissa’s other credits include originating the role of Kit in Princesses (David Zipple- Pre Broadway Run), Maria in My Big, Gay, Italian Wedding (Off Broadway), Tony And Tina’s Wedding (Off Broadway- Original Revival Cast), Kim in How The Nurse Feels (NYMF), Toby in Romy and Michele’s…Reunion, Trudie in Empire (NYC), Ellen in Sounds Like Love (Lincoln Center), Anabel Glick in Lucky Stiff (Laguna Playhouse), Suzy in The Marvelous Wonderettes (Seven Angels Theater) and many others. Marissa is a JEFF Award (Chicago) and IRNE Award (Boston) Nominee for Best Principle Actress in a Musical. She has sung under the world renowned conductor Jack Everly with the Indianapolis and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras and has been a featured performer in many cabaret (54 Below, Birdland) and fundraising events (Defying Gravity: Stephen Schwartz Benefit Concert, Broadway Diva Fest, Mr. Green’s Opus). She credits her parents for instilling in her such tremendous drive, confidence, humility and ability to thrive by way of raising someone else higher, for with these “special powers” she has gained such incredible success as a human being. “Ya gotta think big, to BE big!”

REHEARSALS

The rehearsal schedule for Main Stage Theatre is generally Mon-Thurs from 6:00pm-10pm and for most productions, Sunday evenings 5-9pm or some afternoons, based on cast and directors’ schedules.
