THE WAY OFF BROADWAY DINNER THEATRE SETS AUDITIONS

FOR ITS 2013 SEASON-OPENER, STEEL MAGNOLIAS

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre’s 2013 Season has a line-up of shows that were hits both on the silver screen and on the Broadway stage. The first of these blockbuster shows, which will open the theatre’s new season, is Robert Harling’s Steel Magnolias. Way Off Broadway has announced that it will be holding auditions for the season-opener on Monday, October 29th beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the theatre located in the Willowtree Plaza at 5 Willowdale Drive in Frederick, Maryland.

Those auditioning should be at least 20 years old and are asked to bring a headshot and resume and prepare a 60 second dramatic monologue and a 60 second comedic monologue, as well as be ready to read scenes from the script. No appointments are necessary and all roles are open and non-union paying. Specific casting notes, character descriptions, as well as rehearsal and performance information may be found at

The quintessential story of friendship and trust, Steel Magnolias serves up a southern slice of life that's as warm and comforting as sweet potato pie! In the world of Truvy's Salon, six women come together to share their secrets, fears, and love for one another while engaging the audience in hysterical and neighborly gossip. From weddings to divorces, babies to funerals, new beginnings to happy and sad endings, they share each moment in their lives with grace and heart.

Steel Magnolias was written by playwright Robert Harling and will be directed at Way Off Broadway by the theatre’s Creative Director, Jordan B. Stocksdale. The show will open Way Off Broadway’s 2013 Season and run from January 11 – March 9, 2013.

The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre has been a leader in the region’s performing arts community since it first opened in 1995.
