Auditions for the You Need To Be On Broadway High School Musical Theater Conservatory will be held onTuesday, June 17, 2014 from 6 - 9 p.m.

About the Conservatory

The You Need To Be On Broadway High School Musical Theater Conservatory is an exciting new program that aims to provide talented high school students from the tri-state area with the skills needed to excel in the professional world of musical theater. Students will undergo rigorous training in dance (jazz and ballet), voice, acting, and stage performance. Additionally, conservatory students will receive audition and industry coaching as well as technical feedback from New York theater professionals. At the end of the semester, students will perform in an original performance showcase where industry executives including talent agents and casting directors will be invited to attend!

Auditions are required for participation in the You Need To Be On Broadway Musical Theater Conservatory.
Audition Information
Auditions for the conservatory will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, 85 George Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
(Most students will complete the audition process within 1–2 hours. Students will be released immediately after their audition/interview.)
Please Prepare:
Picture: Please bring your headshot or a recent picture.
Résumé: Please bring a résumé detailing your performance credits and training.
Vocal: Please prepare two contrasting songs:
  • A ballad
  • An up-tempo
Please select 1632 bars that best support your vocals. It is acceptable to start in the middle of a song if you so choose. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided on the day of auditions.
Songs should be memorized, and students must be able to act the song.
Dance: Please bring appropriate dance attire to allow freedom of movement, as well as ballet or jazz shoes. (Jeans and hard-sole shoes are not permitted.) If you would like to demonstrate your tap skills, please also bring your tap shoes.
