FINALLY HEARD: FEMININE HEROES OF AN UNCIVIL WAR - Maryland Ensemble Theatre

MARYLAND ENSEMBLE THEATRE AUDITIONING FOR:

FINALLY HEARD: FEMININE HEROES OF AN UNCIVIL WAR

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is holding open auditions for the fifth show in their fifteenth anniversary season, "Finally Heard: Feminine Heroes of an Uncivil War".

Sixteen years ago Maryland Ensemble Theatre mounted its first mainstage production, an original world premiere production about the real lives of six extraordinary women who lived during the Civil War. On the 150th Anniversary of the bloodiest conflict in our nation's history, a war that pitted brother against brother, MET is thrilled to bring new life to its first ever production that gives voice to little known stories of these miraculous women. The original script was written in 1997 by Angela D'Ambrosia, Sophie Arrick, Meg Coyle-Stanford, Gené Fouché, Rona Mensah and Wanda Schell. "Finally Heard" will be directed by Suzanne Beal.

The show is scheduled to run on the MET mainstage, located at 31 W Patrick Street in the historic FSK Hotel, from April 4 - 28, 2013. The show will then travel to the Carroll County Arts Center in Westminster for the weekend of May 4th.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre is seeking actresses only, eighteen and older, and

there are two roles that specifically require African American actresses.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script which will be provided at the audition. The audition will be held at Maryland Ensemble Theatre on November 18th at 7:00pm. The audition is an open call so there are no need to contact MET in advance to schedule an appointment but you may contact the theatre for additional information at
301-694-4744 (x301) or email
contact@marylandensemble.org. MET requests that you please bring a headshot and resume to the audition if possible. The role will receive stipend pay and is open to non-equity actresses only.

For over a decade, Maryland Ensemble Theatre has been producing thought-provoking theatre, fun family entertainment with The Fun Company, artist residency programs for public schools, challenging classes and the side-splitting Comedy Pigs. The MET is an artistic leader in the region and at the forefront of the creation of Frederick's Theater District.
