TOTEM POLE PLAYHOUSE ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR
ANNUAL PRODUCTION OF “A CHRISTMAS CAROL”
Totem Pole Playhouse will hold an open audition for local professional and community actors for its original adaptation of the Charles Dickens’ holiday classic A Christmas Carol on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Totem Pole Playhouse, 9555 Golf Course Road, Fayetteville, PA.
The production, which is produced in association with Gettysburg Community Theatre, opens December 14th and runs through December 23rd at Gettysburg College’s Majestic Theater for twelve performances, including three morning matinee school performances. Rehearsals will begin mid-November and will be held for the first time this year in the Playhouse’s new rehearsal hall and not at the Majestic Theater as in previous years.
Adult and children’s roles are available. Those who have appeared in previous presentations are required to attend this audition to be considered again this year unless otherwise contacted.
A Christmas Carol is an original adaptation by Totem Pole Playhouse Producing Artistic Director
Rowan Joseph, who will direct the show. Much of the text and dialogue is preserved verbatim from the original novel by
Charles Dickens restoring many of the Christian references left out of other more secular versions.
Chad-Alan Carr, Executive Artistic Director of Gettysburg Community Theatre, will once again serve as choreographer.
The production boasts a cast of over 60 professional union, non-union, and local community actors making it by far the largest production of A Christmas Carol in Central Pennsylvania.
Those interested in auditioning should bring a current photo and if applicable a copy of their acting resume. You may be asked to stay and learn a brief dance routine. Anyone interested in one of four Caroler roles in the production should be prepared to sing an acapella version of a classic Christmas carol.
Rehearsals will be held on a few selected evenings and weekends between November 12th and December 9th at Totem Pole Playhouse in Fayetteville; tech rehearsals will be held at the Majestic Theater December 10th through the 13th.
