Nashville Symphony Conductor Kelly Corcoran Extends Contract

Kelly Corcoran, the Nashville Symphony's Assistant Conductor, has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Symphony through the end of the Symphony's 2011/12 concert season. In addition, she will assume the new title of Associate Conductor. The upcoming 2010/11 season will mark Corcoran's fourth with the Nashville Symphony. She has led a variety of programs, including SunTrust Classical Series concerts, Bank of America Pops Series concerts and Ann & Monroe Carell Family Trust Pied Piper Series concerts.

"Kelly is well on her way to a successful and promising career in the field of orchestral conducting as a result of her refined musicianship, determination and the relentless hard-working spirit that she brings to all of her endeavors," said Nashville Symphony Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero.

Originally from Massachusetts, Corcoran received her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from The Boston Conservatory and her Master of Music in instrumental conducting from Indiana University. Prior to conducting at Nashville, she completed three seasons as assistant conductor for the Canton Symphony Orchestra in Ohio and music director of the Canton Youth Symphony and the Cleveland-area Heights Chamber Orchestra. She has conducted orchestras throughout the country, including performances with the Milwaukee Symphony, the Detroit Symphony and the National Symphony Orchestra. Corcoran currently serves on the conducting faculty at Tennessee State University.
