Molly Dean’s quest for the supremacy of sound has taken her to the Arctic shores of an Alaskan town and back again to the intimate club scene in the Twin Cities. Guided by her sultry, ethereal voice, Molly’s music eschews easy classification, combining elements of folk, pop and blues into deceivingly simple songs. Writing from the piano and guitar, and incorporating an RC 50 Loop Station both live and in the studio, Molly creates soundscapes that explore ambient textures as much as Americana. Her live shows compel captivation and her forthcoming album expands upon her rapidly developing songwriting talents. Molly frequently performs with local cellist Dan Zamzow (Cloud Cult, Liminal Phase, Deep Soul Deities), creating a unique, yet subtle sound palette. Molly was recognized as the KFAI Female Folk Artist of the Month in December 2008 and was the recipient of an emerging songwriter’s grant from the Grove Foundation. Molly Dean has opened for and performed with revered artists including The Bodeans, Dessa, Keri Noble, Michelle Branch, The Honeydogs, Pat Donahue, Billy McLaughlin and Daphne Willis.

“Molly Dean, to be certain, is gifted. She has a strong, bright voice, writes airy, engaging melodies and has sure, understated stage presence. It’s a joy to… take in Molly Dean’s considerable talent.” – Dwight Hobbes, TC Planet

For this performance, Molly will be joined onstage by revered musicians Dan Zamzow (Cloud Cult / Liminal Phase), Josh Peterson (Heiruspecs), + SECRET WEAPONS Rachel Price on the tenor saxophone & Paul Jennings, all things Cajon & percussion.

The Orange Mighty Trio is an instrumental collective based out of Minneapolis. Their music is a unique blend of several genres, and their live sets contain mostly original tunes varying from fast and virtuosic to subdued and beautiful. Their recent projects include the completion of their new record, “Infrastructure,” due out in June 2009, and a foray into film scoring (“It Was Great But I Was Ready to Come Home,” dir. Kris Swanberg, and “Silver Bullets,” dir. Joe Swanberg).

Tonight The Orange Mighty Trio… performs their original live film score to the 1962 classic Civil War movie "La Riviére du Hibou” by director Robert Enrico.

“Delightfully adventurous…sometimes playful, sometimes dark, sometimes airy, always fascinating.” -- PULSE OF THE TWIN CITIES

“Combines mountainy roots music with urban jazz and hints of classical, careening between beautiful, bold, and a bit of bombast.” -- MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE
