Written by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee Quiara Alegría Hudes (In the Heights), Barrio Grrrl! is the story of Ana and her tenacious sidekick Amazing Voice. In Park Square Theatre's world premiere commission of THE ODYSSEY, Minneapolis Playwright William Randall Beard re-imagines Homer's epic not just as Odysseus' adventure, but as a family saga. Legendary warrior Odysseus (J.C. Cutler) battles beasts, tides and his own arrogance - often with no weapon except his passion. His wife, Penelope (Jodi Kellogg), fights the urge to give up on the world and his teenage son Telemachus (Sasha Andreev) wrestles with his transition to adulthood. Reunited, they discover they can claim new lives, despite the sometimes wicked blows of the gods. The production closes at Park Square Theatre, 20 W. Seventh Place, Saint Paul, on February 6.

In a return to its vaudeville roots the new Loring Theater announces Loring Theater Live, a modern day variety show. The monthly events begin on February 5 and will see the 90 year old theater come to life with a slate of short performances by musicians, acrobats, comedians and other performers. Beginning with an artists' bazaar in the lobby, a performance in the theater's auditorium and ending with a dance event on the stage with Flared Bass Collective, Loring Theateris a full evening of theatrical activity.

Chanhassen Dinner Theatres will produce another new show on its Main Stage with JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. The groundbreaking theatrical masterpiece will run two weeks of previews from Friday, February 4 -17, with grand opening festivities on Friday, July 18. JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is slated to run through July 30, 2011. JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is presented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
