Ballet Classics Under the Stars marks the on-stage debut of the Miami City Ballet Orchestra as the featured attraction, conducted by Maestro Gary Sheldon. The program draws from a century of classical ballet music, with works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Barber, Bizet, and Borodin, including selections from Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, and the Polovetsian Dances. Concertmaster Mei Mei Luo performs the Carmen Fantasy for violin and orchestra, and pianist Francisco Renno takes on Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 3, while dancers from Miami City Ballet and Sanctuary of the Arts' Choreographic Ensemble perform pas de deux on stage. Performances take place at Sanctuary of the Arts in Coral Gables on May 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m. and May 31 at 4:00 p.m.
