Elwood P. Dowd has a six-and-a-half foot imaginary rabbit
friend named Harvey. Things get out of hand when Elwood introduces
Harvey to guests at the party of his sister, Veta. Veta can no longer
tolerate Elwood's eccentric behavior and decides to have him committed.
Problems arise when Veta is mistakenly assumed to be on the verge of
lunacy when she admits to doctors that, after years of listening to Elwood
talk about Harvey, she, too, has seen him.
