Germantown Community Theatre presents The Children by Lucy Kirkwood. Set in 'a small cottage on the east coast', where Hazel (Christina Wellford Scott) and Robin (Tony Isbell), a retired couple in their mid-sixties, are living their lives under particularly uncertain times. Determined to preserve some semblance of normality, Hazel is determined to keep the healthiest, most well-balanced life she possibly can for herself and her husband. When Rose (Kim Justis), a former colleague whom they haven’t seen for 38 years, suddenly turns up, however, she certainly disrupts their precariously ordered existence.
Exploring issues of accountability, guilt, and morality, this serio-comic piece will leave you wanting to discuss the plot and it's implications with friends and will stay with you long after the cast takes their bow.
Director Jeff Posson says" It's a play about erosion. It's a play about decay. It's a play about half-lifes, nuclear and biological. And it is a play about how we face those gradual, unavoidable endings. Because, face them we must. Eventually every core goes critical. Eventually all things slip into the sea."
