Is there a name for the sensations that exist in the space between euphoria and dysphoria? This August, the singers of 8TPS present the inaugural production of p h o r i a, a musical anthology designed to answer that very question. Join a gender-expansive vocal octet and string quartet for a 75-minute program of contemporary works by trans & nonbinary composers. Inspired by the root -phoria (derived from the Greek word “phoros” meaning “to carry”), this concert showcases six world premieres from local artists Anaís Azul, Aria Gittelson, Wells Leng, Tanner Pfeiffer, Yaya Vasquez-Lopez, and Socks Whitmore. p h o r i a promises to take audiences on an emotional journey through a new lexicon of words for trans experience, from the search for belonging to the carrying of our own flowers.
p h o r i a will take place on August 8, 2026 at 7:30 pm at the Los Angeles LGBT Center's Renberg Theatre. Tickets start at $25 with discounts available for students, seniors, and WeHo residents. Learn more & save your seat at bit.ly/phoria2026.
This program is supported in part by an arts grant from the City of West Hollywood.
