Women at Work is a transformative evening of works-in-progress by BIPOC femme writers. It celebrates raw, powerful storytelling that explores survival, resistance, and the complexities of women’s experiences in today's world. The event, directed by Larryjean Powell, offers a creative safe space for artists to nurture their craft and receive feedback. This year’s lineup features works by Jesse Bliss, Sigrid Gilmer, Aiko Little, Gabriela Ortega, and Kristina Wong, whose voices have already made an impact on the national arts scene.
Opening with a violin performance by Alma Cielo and will feature a live painting by Alfie Numeric, Women at Work showcases narratives that challenge societal norms, providing visibility to voices that have long been silenced or overlooked. This event is a vital part of The Roots and Wings Project’s mission to dismantle oppressive structures and uplift marginalized communities. Donations are welcomed but not required, with a suggested minimum donation of $10.
