The Student Prince at Moulton Theatre, Laguna Playhouse

Opera Laguna presents a one-night-only semi-staged concert of The Student Prince, an operetta debuting on Broadway in 1924 with music by Sigmund Romberg and lyrics by Dorothy Donnelly. The story follows Prince Karl Franz, sent incognito to the University of Heidelberg, who falls in love with Kathie, a commoner, but must ultimately choose between that love and his royal duties as king. The production is directed by Josh Shaw and stars tenor Arnold Livingston Geis as Prince Karl Franz, with soprano Oriana Geis-Falla as Kathie, baritone Kevin Blickfeldt as Dr. Engel, and soprano Lily Prado as Princess Margaret, among others. Brian Holman conducts.
