The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at Chance Theater

Aaron Lipp

Aaron is thrilled to be making his Chance Theater debut in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Since he was 13 years old, Aaron knew he wanted to do theater after acting in his first play, The Mouse That Roared, in the role of Soldier 1. Aaron has just entered his junior year at Chapman University’s College of Performing Arts. Earlier this year, he played Christopher in Chapman’s production of Curious Incident, for which he won a department performance award, and he is overjoyed to be returning to the role. As a neurodivergent actor, Aaron is looking forward to bringing this character to more audiences and sharing this story with a larger community

Rachel Oliveros Catalano

Rachel Oliveros Catalano was recently a soloist with the Pacific Symphony at the Segerstrom Concert Hall, where she performed as La Catrina Calavera in a concert event written and directed by Sara Guerrero. After her fruitful year on stage, StageSceneLA awarded her the 2019 recognition of “Musical Theater Star Of The Year,” and Chance Theater awarded her a Chancie Award for “Best Supporting Actor In A Musical.” Previous roles at Chance Theater include Mother in Ragtime, The Witch in Big Fish, Mrs. Clancy in Fancy Nancy, The Musical, Ladybug in James and the Giant Peach, Laura in the OTR workshop of Ted Malawer’s Anatomy of Love, Marmee in Little Women – The Broadway Musical, Gabi in the staged reading of L.A. Vida, Miss Stacey/Woman 2 in Anne of Green Gables, as well as Camila Rosario in the Ovation Recommended production of In The Heights. Outside of Chance Theater, Rachel played the role of Diana in the hit musical, Next To Normal, with the Wayward Artist Theater Company, in the staged reading of Policarpa at Grand Central Arts Center, and previously at San Diego Repertory Theater in the staged reading of Diana Burbano’s Fabulous Monsters. Rachel received her MFA in Musical Theater Performance from the Chicago College of the Performing Arts, and her B.A. from California Lutheran University. Favorite Chicago theater credits include a 6-month run in Latinologues, Jeanie in Hair, and Martirio in The House of Bernarda Alba. Rachel would like to thank her amazing husband and daughters for their continued love and support. “I love and adore you, my family.”

Casey Long

Casey Long is proud to be a Chance Resident Artist and co-founder. Casey is a graduate of the Leadership Anaheim program, Annenberg Foundation’s Alchemy training, and the Fieldstone Foundation Leadership program. Recent Chance acting credits include the OC premiere of Theresa Rebeck’s Seminar, Samuel Hunter’s A Bright New Boise, the OC premiere of Sarah Ruhl’s Passion Play, Southern California Premiere of Reborning, and the West Coast Premiere of Nerve. He has also directed four shows at the Chance as part of the Holiday Literature Series — Anne of Green Gables, Little Women – The Broadway Musical, The Secret Garden: The Musical, and Jane Austen’s Emma: The Musical. For Dork. Always.

Karen O’Hanlon

Karen O’Hanlon is delighted to be a Chance Resident Artist and Artistic Council Member. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theater from East Stroudsburg University. As the Education Director, she is incredibly proud of the Chance Theater’s Youth and Teen programs that focus on building confident leaders, and the groundbreaking Speak Up program that uses theater arts to empower participants to find their voice through creative expression while building empathy. Through community support, the Speak Up program has grown into three branches: serving teens, serving veterans, and our new program, Spectrum ‘Speak Up’, serving kids with developmental disorders. Additional career highlights include writing and directing A Celtic Holiday with Craic in the Stone (Best Special Event by Examiner.com), working as a debate coach with the Orange County Debate League, and teaching Theater and Debate at Fairmont Private Schools. She has previously appeared on the Chance Stage in the SoCal Premier of Middletown, The Laramie Project & Laramie Project: 10 years later (LA Stage Times’ Top Ten of 2013), Passion Play (Orange County Premier), Rare Birds (OTR Workshop), ​and The Eight: Reindeer Monologues.

Rachel McLaughlan

Rachel is excited to be back at the Chance and to be a part of such an incredible show. Hailing from Santa Rosa California, Rachel spent six years touring around the country singing with Big Bird on the national tour of Sesame Street. Other credits include Clue, Man Of La Mancha (La Mirada Theatre), Bright Star (Musical Theatre West), 9-5, CATS (Candlelight Pavilion) and Into The Woods (Broadway In The Garden). Much love to her amazing boyfriend Kurtis and cat Ichabod Crane. Thanks to her amazing agent Anthony Boyer of DDO Artists Agency, voice teacher Mary Jo Duprey, and acting teach Don Bloomfield of DBA Studios. This show is dedicated to the loving memory of Courtny Eddeen Greenough who made every show at the Chance so special. Carpe Diem!

Jonathon Lamer

Jonathon is excited to be back on stage at the Chance. Previous Chance productions include: Anaheim Home Companion, Inventing Van Gogh, The Seagull, Sunday in the Park with George, Frozen, Evita, Rabbit Hole, and The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? Jonathon is an associate company member at Theatre of NOTE in Hollywood, and has appeared at Antaeus and A Noise Within, as well as at the Long Beach Playhouse. He has also adjudicated several theatre festivals, including The Lenaea High School Festival in Folsom, CA, and the US Army Tournament of Plays (Toppers) at participating military installations in Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Italy, and Turkey.

Jared Machado

Jared is excited to be back at Chance Theater for Ride the Cyclone. His previous credits include The Prince of Morocco in The Merchant of Venice, Trofímov in The Cherry Orchard, Georg in Spring Awakening, Ernie in Sister Act, Henry in Next to Normal, and Johnny in Green Day’s American Idiot right here at Chance Theater. Jared started his training at the Orange County School of the Arts (Class of ‘17), training under professionals such as Krysta Rodriguez, Susan Egan, Ali Stroker, and more! When he’s not acting, Jared spends his time teaching at OCSA, composing scores, and creating new worlds as a Dungeon Master in his D&D group.

Holly Jeanne

Holly Jeanne returns to the Chance after successful runs in James and the Giant Peach and The Stinky Cheeseman . . . on the Fyda-Mar Stage. A Theatre Arts faculty member at several local colleges, Holly recently appeared as Winifred Snow in ICT’s Into the Breeches, Mrs. Peacock in Clue at The Maverick and originated the role of Amy in Three Letter Words with Michael/Miguel productions at The Wayward Artist in addition to voicing therapist Mildred in a reading of Searching for Mr. Rightstein. Other performance credits include The Laguna Playhouse, Shakespeare Under the Moon, Santa Barbara Shakespeare, Utah’s Old Lyric, Summer Repertory Theatre in Santa Rosa, the Performance Salon at CSULA and The Court Theatre with Park Overall and Alanna Stewart. On film she can be seen in Distortion, Troublemaker and Barracuda along with several music videos by Bowling for Soup, Sea Wolf and Danny Dichotomy.

Darryl B. Hovis

Darryl B. Hovis earned his M.A. in Theatre Production at Central Washington University and studied acting at the Professional Conservatory at UCSD under Anna Shapiro (Steppenwolf) as well as South Coast Repertory under Karen Hensel. He is the co-founder and artistic director of the Culver City Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, where he developed an intensive arts program for high school students in theatre, film, music, and art, and has gone on to develop theatre programs at other Southern California high schools, as well as Theatre International at Leysin American School in Leysin, Switzerland. TYA productions include Alice in Wonderland, The Legend(s) of Sleepy Hollow, and The Boy at the Edge of Everything. Adriana Lámbarri

Adriana’s experience in costume design spans both theater and film. She is pleased to return to the Chance Theater for Cry It Out, having previously designed costumes for Elevada, Skylight, A Wrinkle In Time, and Sweat. Her other theater credits include work at South Coast Repertory, Center Theater Group, the Los Angeles Theater, La Mirada Theater, the Guthrie in Minneapolis, Cincinnati Playhouse, The Odyssey Theatre, and Pasadena Playhouse to name a few. She’s also had the unique opportunity to design costumes for the NFL Hall of Fame’s current immersive exhibit Game For Life, which features a holographic Joe Namath. Her next feature film is due out later this year starring Matthew Gray Gubler. Additionally, she works as a costume illustrator. Clients include Disney, Marvel Studios, the Guthrie Theater, La Jolla Playhouse, and the Cleveland Opera. She is a proud member of USA 829. Andrea Heilman

Andrea Heilman is a Los Angles based educator and Designer (Scenic and Lighting) who has an accomplished freelance career that spans over 15 years. As an educator Andrea seeks to engage with trauma-informed practices with student populations, bringing this work into the arts and theater practices specifically. She did keynotes for workshops with the OISTAT Education Commission (summer 2020/2021), USITT, and the Tbilisi Biennale International Symposium. As a designer, Andrea loves working on a wide range of projects, from art directing independent films and web series to designing site-specific theater and more traditional work. TD&T’s Design Issue, Summer 2018, featured Andrea’s set design for Anna in the Tropics at the Jungle Theater. Some of her favorite designs include Cymbeline at California Lutheran University where she is the head of Design and Production; The Brothers Size with Pillsbury House at the Guthrie Theatre; The Arsonists at The American University in Cairo; Agnes Under the Big Top, A Cool Drink A Water, and Red Ink with Mixed Blood. Andrea is happy to be returning to the Chance after designing lights for the Ovation Award-winning Fun Home in 2020. Nick Santiago

Nick has worked for numerous universities and theatre companies including Skylight Theatre (Forever House, Church & State, Obama Ology), Rogue Machine (A Permanent Image, Luka’s Room, Honky), USC (Trojan Women, On The Town), Pasadena Playhouse (Ham), and LA LGBT Center (The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life Revisited). He received an Ovation nomination and a LA Drama Critics Circle Award for his work on Rogue Machine’s A Permanent Image.

Wade Williamson

Wade Williamson is a Resident Artist with Chance Theater. He has been active in the local Orange County theater scene for the past 30 years. At Chance Theater, he has stage managed the staged “singing” of L.A. Vida and the mainstage productions of Seminar, Tribes, Violet, Good People, Tigers Be Still and Next To Normal. A graduate of Cal State Fullerton’s acclaimed School of the Arts Department of Theatre & Dance, he has served as an actor, stage manager, director, technician, designer, producer, and even artistic director. He has directed plays at Modjeska Playhouse, STAGEStheatre, and Vanguard Theater Ensemble. Acting credits at Chance Theater include various roles in The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales. Wade is also a Board Member for the Orange County Theatre Guild.

Sophie Hall Cripe

Sophie has a BA and MA in Speech and Theater from the University of Illinois and she taught theater at the high school level. She has also been an actor/dancer and director/choreographer. She served as Board President of the Laguna Playhouse and South Coast Repertory. She is a Member of the National Council of the American Theater and the Literary Managers and Dramaturges of America. This is Sophie’s 14th play to dramaturg for the Chance. She thanks her family for their ongoing support and dedicates her work to the memory of the first actor she saw on the Chance stage.. Glenda Morgan Brown

Glenda Morgan Brown (Dialect Coach) is excited to be working with The Chance again! She recently coached two new works table readings for The Lower Depths Theater in Pasadena. She has worked with many theatres in Southern California, including Group Rep Theatre in North Hollywood (Calendar Girls, Lost in Yonkers, A Streetcar Named Desire, and others); Blithe Spirit for The Advent Theatre in North Hollywood; Hay Fever at Long Beach Playhouse; and here at The Chance (Colonialism is Terrible, But Pho is Delicious, Skylight, Good People, Cabaret, The Secret Garden, among others) and many more. Last summer she performed her one-woman Wizard of Oz for Chance-A-Thon. Glenda has appeared in several television shows, and can be seen as the lead in the indie thriller At Granny’s House on Amazon Prime. She’ll soon be lending her “creepy old lady” voice to an Audible UK project. Thanks always to her husband David Colwell for his support and understanding.

Kenzie Robinson

Kenzie is thrilled to be apart of this production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at Chance Theater. She is a recent graduate of Azusa Pacific University where she earned her BFA in Acting for the Stage and Screen. After graduation, Kenzie hopes to pursue acting and directing, both on the stage and screen. Some of her credits include working for The Ministry of Peculiarities, choreographing for Foothill Legacy Theater, and stage managing/interning for Teens Speak Up.
