“Susan Bones” is unlike any tale that has come before it: In this interactive, one-act comedy musical, you’ll meet the newest student at Hogwarts: join the feisty, foul-mouthed Susan Bones and her fellow Hufflepuffs as they navigate spells and secrets in this coming-of-age spoof. Yes, they attend the same school as Hermione, Ron, and Harry–but our heroes are too busy chasing their own dreams. For Susan, that means escaping the strange world of witches and wizards and galloping off into the sunset on a unicorn: after all, Susan is a horse girl at heart. Whether you’re a die-hard Potter-head or know nothing of the wizarding world, all audiences (ages 16+) will love laughing through this raunchy, ridiculous, and magical adventure. “Susan Bones” is written and directed by Zack Colonna and Jason Avezzano, with original music by Ben Kapilow (Assistant Professor/Music Director for the BFA/BA Programs in Musical Theatre at SUNY Cortland), and musical direction by Eric Lewis-Baker. The show is co-produced by Twenty Beach Productions. A new comedy musical from Zack Colonna and Jason Avezzano, with original music written by Ben Kapilow, “Susan Bones: The Untold Story of a Horsegirl Who Went to Hogwarts,” premieres at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in Los Angeles on December 9th, 2025, at 8:30 pm. The one-hour musical will then travel for a second preview performance at the Lyric Hyperion Theater in Los Angeles on December 14, 2025, at 7:30 p.m.
