Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center proudly presents the powerfully provocative musical NEXT TO NORMAL from April 21 - May 27, 2018. With poignant lyrics by Brian Yorkey and a powerful contemporary rock score by Tom Kitt (American Idiot), NEXT TO NORMAL is an insightful and fiercely honest story of love, loss and family life, exploring how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. Boasting the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and three Tony Awards including best musical score, NEXT TO NORMAL was also chosen as "one of the year's ten best shows" by critics around the country, including The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Rolling Stone and The New York Times. Cathartic and ultimately uplifting, NEXT TO NORMAL challenges us to ask the question, 'What is normal?' SVCAC presents this award winning musical in recognition of National Mental Health Awareness Month of May 2018. This show is recommended for audiences 14 & older due to mature themes.
Panic! Productions, along with Born To Perform Studios and Boo Boo Productions, have announced that Barry Pearl will once again direct their late summer teen musical “13” at Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center.

With the current theatre world on hiatus, I have created a Spotlight Series on Broadway World which features interviews with some of the many talented artists who make our Los Angeles theatre community so exciting and vibrant thanks to their ongoing contribution to keeping the Arts alive in the City of the Angels. And just like all of us, I wondered how they are dealing with the abrupt end of productions in which they were involved. This Spotlight focuses on Dana Weisman, a musical theatre actor who longs to get back on the stage and entertain audiences as soon as possible!
