MOJADA: A MEDEA IN LOS ANGELES
By Luis Alfaro Directed by Steve Llamas
In this gripping reimagining of Euripides’ Medea, acclaimed playwright Luis Alfaro transports the myth to modern-day Los Angeles. Medea, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, lives in quiet isolation—until her husband’s betrayal ignites a fury as old as time.
Mojada blends poetry, politics, and heartbreak into a stunning portrait of immigrant sacrifice, resilience, and the high cost of assimilation. It’s a story that feels both timeless and urgently contemporary.
