Cinballera Salon: Songs of the British Isles at Villa Montezuma

On March 17, the 3rd Monday of the month, join us at the Villa Montezuma at 7 PM for Songs of the British Isles!

One evening each month, Cinballera hosts its own monthly opera night, Cinballera Salon: Opera at the Villa! We're collaborating with the historic Villa Montezuma Museum at 1925 K Street, San Diego in the historic Sherman Heights Historic District. March is the second month during year 2 of Cinballera Salon: Opera at the Villa!

This month's theme is Songs of the British Isles. In honor of St. Patrick's Day, we're honoring the musical culture of not just Ireland but the whole British Isles. There will be folksongs from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and more, art songs and opera arias by Celtic composers, and excerpts from operas set in the British Isles.

We call this series Cinballera Salon because it is a loving tribute to the musical salons of years past, when friends would gather in lovely parlor to enjoy sharing music for an evening. Hosted the third week of the month, each evening will have a different theme. Music on the program will include opera arias, art songs, and other classical vocal music, performed by talented operatic singers from throughout the region. There is a special emphasis on duets, trios, and other ensembles, to recreate opera scenes in an intimate setting.

In keeping with this mansion's gracious history, we encourage our guests to use this as an excuse to dress up for an evening out! Gentlemen, dust off your favorite suit and tie, and ladies, here's a chance to wear that dress and hat you've been saving! For St. Patrick's Day, the March Salon's theme is green. Wear your best green outfit, shamrock accessories, or Leprechaun hat, or you may get pinched!

No tickets; admittance with a donation (suggested amount $25 per person). All the proceeds support the two non-profit organizations, Cinballera and Friends of the Villa Montezuma, and pay the performers.
