Lost? Confused? Feeling tingly down there? Never fear, Barbie Smith WILL fix you!*
Throughout history, as far back as we can remember, Satan has been using the vagina as a booby trap to lure foolish women into ruining the lives of innocent young men. Just look at Adam and Eve! While Adam was innocently minding his business, Satan slithered up inside Eve with the tricky little idea to feed the hungry man a bite of her “fruit”. And what has come upon mankind as a result? Pubic lice, crabs, chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhea, genital warts, genital herpes, oral herpes, anal herpes, hepatitises A & B, HPV, and THE LIST GOES ON!
Former pageant queen-turned-abstinence educator Barbie Smith wants to save you from their shameful fate. The only problem? She’s having a little trouble saving herself. Equal parts religious sermon and nervous breakdown, BARBIE SMITH: GOD’S FAVORITE TEASE is a campy critique of purity culture, evangelical perversion, and the perils of being God’s horniest solder.
A solo show from Yamini Nambimadom. Directed by Rami Kablawi.
