Authors @ the Playhouse Featuring Camille Hernandez: Motherlands at Sierra Madre Playhouse

Camille Hernandez, the Poet Laureate of Anaheim, presents an immersive reimagining of poetry from her chapbook Motherlands as part of the Sierra Madre Playhouse Authors Series. Hernandez transforms her work into a choreopoem, merging movement, rhythm, and language into living performance through gesture, breath, culture, and motion. As part of the program, she prepares a traditional Filipino Kamayan feast that blends her Black and Filipino cultures while reciting poetry. Her poetry crafts vibrant portraits of marginalized women, amplifying their survival, intuition, interconnection, and defiant joy.
