Returning to The Music Center under its exclusive multi-year Southern California residency, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater continues a legacy of African American strength, resilience and joy through powerful movement. The beloved company will treat audiences to classic works from the Ailey repertory as well as new works by contemporary choreographers that promise to propel dance in exciting new directions. Make your way to Downtown L.A. to experience an extraordinary program that carries forward Alvin Ailey’s vision of dance as a source of hope and community.
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will present a series of performances and workshops in New York City and across the United States, starting March 2026. The tour will also introduce the 'Finding Grace' curriculum aimed at schools nationwide.
Amidst rising concerns regarding the COVID-19 global outbreak, Governor Newsom's strong recommendation that all gatherings of 250 or more people across the entire state be cancelled, and the County of Los Angeles' order that The Music Center close its theatres (Ahmanson Theatre, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Mark Taper Forum and Walt Disney Concert Hall), The Music Center closed its theatres, effective today, March 12, 2020.
