Compañía Nacional de Danza returns to The Music Center after 20 years with the North American Premiere of Don Quixote, choreographed by José Carlos Martínez, currently dance director of the Paris Opera Ballet, and performed to live music by Ludwig Minkus. Based on Miguel de Cervantes' legendary tale of an idealistic knight daring to dream the impossible dream, this joyful ballet bursts with dazzling technique, humor and flair. Martínez's staging honors the ballet's Spanish influences with nuance and integrity through traditional dances, including the bolero and fandango, and theatrical elements that reflect their true origins.
