SKIN TO SKIN at LaGuardia Performing Arts Center

Inspired by the true stories of Black mothers and midwives, SKIN TO SKIN is led by playwright Jeremy J. Kamps and Trixie Ndanu Kioko, a midwife and birthing justice advocate, and examines the impact of systemic racism in labor and delivery rooms. Presented in partnership with Houses on the Moon Theater Company, the work centers the experiences of Black women in a theatrical exploration of health, care, and survival. It moves between the deeply personal and the systemic, asking what it means to live in a body whose pain and needs are filtered through institutions beyond its control.
