Based on the 1950s film of the same title, this tragic love story revolves around the relationship between Joe Gillis, an out-of-work screenwriter looking to rustle up a buck or two, and Norma Desmond, the faded star of the forgotten silent screen era who lives with her memories and madness in her empty mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street.

Smartly directed by Frederic De Feis, A Steady Rain is being performed at the Vanderbilt Carriage House Theater until March 25th. Essentially a black box theater, the focus of this particular work is on John Leone as Denny and Christopher Tyrkko as Joe - as a team these two strong performers bring much power and intensity to this intimate space. They impressively touch upon the tension and humor of their lives, whether they are talking to the audience or interacting with one another.

The Sag Harbor Elementary School held its first ever Talent Variety Show at Bay Street Theatre last Sunday. The show gave kids an opportunity to perform in front of a live audience in a professional setting. Bay Street Theatre donated the space and personnel time to run the event.

On Wednesday, February 29 at the John W. Engeman Theater, Kevin O'Neill, Executive Producer and Owner of the Theater, presented a check in the amount of $2,620 to OOMPAH for Arts in Education Committee. OOMPAH partnered with the John W. Engeman Theater to help raise money for supplemental curricular programming in grades K-12 throughout the Huntington School District. The Arts in Education committee is dedicated to providing educational programming of the highest value to the students of Huntington.

'Nine', presented by the BroadHollow Theatre Company, proved to be a great incarnation of a Broadway favorite. The cast, directed by Jason Allyn, sounded excellent, the set was fantastic, and the costumes were beautiful. Now playing through March 11th at BayWay in Islip, this production will also be presented at their Elmont location starting March 17th.

Bay Street announces that The Retreat, Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD) and Southampton Hospital will host a screening of the film TYSON at Bay Street Theatre on Thursday, March 15 at 7 pm. Renowned author, Steven Gaines, will moderate a panel discussion on the role of drug and alcohol abuse, and the social construction of masculinity in spiking incidences of violence against women. The distinguished panel will include Dr. Charlie Robbins, Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education at Stony Brook University, among other experts on the topic.
