Auditions for The Wizard of Oz will be held on Tuesday August 24 (Juniors and ages 11 and under) 4:30-8:30, Juniors will stay from 4:30 to 5:30. There will be a MANDATORY meeting for all parents of students who have never auditioned for an ACT One Show at 5:00 p.m.
Lawrence Arts Center Announces Their After-School Art Programs, 8/16-27

The Lawrence Arts Center (940 New Hampshire St., Lawrence) announces week-long after-school art programs for the weeks of August 16th and August 23rd. Classes will meet Mondays through Fridays from 4 to 5:30PM at the center. Cost is $60 per week and financial aid is still available.

Crown Center Square. The famous Crown Center Square Fountain dances to famous tunes! Programmed by the company behind the renowned Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas, Crown Center's fountain is synchronized to music specially recorded for Crown Center by members of the Kansas City Symphony. The show schedule: Weekday shows at noon and on the hour from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Weekend shows on the hour from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. There is also a 10 p.m. show on Friday and Saturday. 816-274-8444.

The Lerner and Loewe masterpiece My Fair Lady brings to life Eliza Doolittle, an uncommon Cockney flower girl who is taken under the tutelage of the arrogant Henry Higgins as he attempts to teach her proper diction and pass her off as a lady. According to the show's director Michael Rothhaar 'My Fair Lady is the gold standard of Broadway musicals and an honest to goodness fairy tale.' The delightful score includes audience favorites 'I Could Have Danced All Night,' 'On the Street Where You Live,' 'I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face,' 'Get Me to the Church on Time,' and so many others.
Act One Replaces BEAUTY AND THE BEAST with WIZARD OF OZ, Auditions 8/24-27

Act One's shows for the Fall of 2010 and Spring of 2011 have changed. The Broadway tour for Beauty and the Beast has been extended, therefore licenses for the show have been restricted through the end of the year. Unfortunately, that means Act One has had to change their plans for a show season.The fall show will now be The Wizard of Oz, and auditions will be held on Tuesday, August 24th from 4:30-5:30 for ages 5-7 and 4:30 to 8:30 for ages 8-11. Auditions for ages 12 and up will be held on Friday, August 27th from 4:30-10:00. Callbacks will be held on Saturday, August 28th from 9:00-12:30.

Kansas City's Musical Theater Heritage has announced an all-female production of 1776 to be presented from August 12 to August 29. The production will be directed by Sarah Crawford.
