Kauffman Center Announces New 'Best of Broadway Series'

The Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts-a new center for music, opera, theater, and dance opening in Kansas City, MO on September 16, 2011-has announced an unprecedented collaboration to dramatically expand Broadway productions presented in the greater Kansas City region. The Kauffman Center is collaborating with Kansas City's Music Hall, Theater League, and Broadway Across America to offer one five-show subscription package for performances at both venues, the 'Kansas City Best of Broadway Series.' The Kauffman Center's 1,800 seat Muriel Kauffman Theatre will enable the city host more intimate musicals and plays as part of a series of touring Broadway productions presented by Theater League. More information regarding the productions to be included in the Center's inaugural season of programming will be announced in early 2011.

Jerrod grew up in the small town of Liberal, Kansas. Like many rural communities, the economy relied on agriculture, and the weekend entertainment revolved around high school football. With the nearest major city almost three hours away, live music came in the form of acounty fair once a year. His parents worked hard to provide Jerrod, and his siblings with a stable and loving home environment. For most of hischildhood, his parents owned and operated a roller skating rink, which offered Jerrod his first real introduction to music.

Kevin Hart has burst onto the scene as one of the most versatile comedy actors in film and television. Earlier this year, he was seen on the big screen in the hit Screen Gems drama Not Easily Broken opposite Morris Chestnut and Taraji P. Henson. Hart recently premiered his new one-hour comedy special 'I'm a Grown Little Man' on Comedy Central. The special debuted as one of the highest rated specials for the network. He will next be seen starring in Comedy Central's new series 'Krod Mandoon and The Flaming Sword of Fire' set to premiere in April 2009. Hart stars as Zezelryck, the young warlock whose greatest magical gift is spinning BS, in this fantasy comedy series about a reluctant hero and his band of remarkably ineffectual freedom fighters.

For three decades, more than half a million admirers of A Christmas Carol have been delighted by Kansas City Repertory Theatre's annual production of Charles Dickens' holiday classic. This year, the Rep celebrates its 30th anniversary production of A Christmas Carol by refurbishing its iconic set and introducing exciting new elements to the show, which is directed by 29-year-old Kyle Hatley. A Christmas Carol runs November 19-December 26 at Spencer Theatre on the UMKC campus, and is produced in partnership with UMKC Theatre.
