Theatre InPlay, Inc. Sets Plans for Own Productions, Collaborations

InPlay, Inc., a theatrical producing company started in 1999, has re-emerged with a new commitment to its mission to create and maintain a climate of diversity in Kansas City's theatre community.  InPlay now will not only produce its own productions, but will collaborate with other organizations to fulfill its mission.

Badder Auditions produced by Whim Productions is sidesplitting, roll on the floor good fun and is currently playing as part of the Kansas City Fringe Festival 2015. Showing at the City Stage located inside Union Station it is a sequel to Bad Auditions, which was a hit for the 2014 Kansas City Fringe Festival.

Theatre Company. The Grand Illusion plays on the stage at the Arts Asylum located at 1000 E. 9th Street in Kansas City, Missouri. Spencer Brown with Associate Director Ashley Pike created, directed, and stars in the musical comedy cabaret.

The only place to see this outrageous musical comedy is at the New Theatre in Overland Park. Richard Carrothers directs The Addams Family a New Musical running through September 20 at the dinner theater. Daniel Doss provides musical direction and Katelin Zelon the choreography for the delightful yet maybe a little bizarre musical.
BWW Preview: The Fringe Festival Comes to Kansas City

The Fringe Festival returns to Kansas City from July 16 through July 26. The festival will be held at 20 venues in the metropolitan area, including the Arts Asylum, Unicorn Theatre, and Union Station among others. Over 116 performing groups, many returning from the 2014 Fringe Festival, will produce the over 480 shows during the two week span. The Grand Hall of Union Station and the Blue Galley in Aquarius/Vulcan's Forge will host the festivals visual artists.

A delightful production of Shrek the Musical opened Saturday night July 11 at the White Theatre in the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, Kan. Tim Bair directs the production in conjunction with Theater in the Park. The musical plays through July 26 at the White Theatre and then moves to Theater in the Park from July 31 through August 8.

Its first production will be one of its "By the Book" series, a staged reading of William Shakespeare's Othello. Othello will run August 6 through August 9, 2015 in the Penn Valley Room of Just Off Broadway Theatre. Just Off Broadway Theatre is located at 3051 Central in Penn Valley Park, Kansas City, MO.

Beginning its 42nd season, Theatre for Young America is offering an varied season of plays:: two Kansas City premieres; a world premiere; some traditional favorites; and a Halloween night-time presentation. The 2015-16 season begins with a Siamese cat's imaginative excursion to Mexico, and ends with a boy's magical encounter with a giant. Six of the presentations are based directly upon children's literature. The season runs from October 13, 2015 through June 24, 2016.
