"Siren Song" Audition - Siren Song

Audition Notice for "Siren Song" A staged reading for a new play in development by Tania Arazi Coambs 

Performance Date: Sunday, October 26 at 7pm (6pm call) at Sarasota Contemporary Dance 

Rehearsals: Wednesday, October 22 from 7:30-10pm, and Sunday, October 26 (1pm-4pm)

 • This is a paid acting opportunity. Performers must be able to commit to all dates and times in order to be considered. The rehearsals and the performance will all take place at Sarasota Contemporary Dance.

 • Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 5:30pm–8pm at New College of Florida 

• Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 8:30-10pm at Sarasota Contemporary Dance Company. 

About the Play: This new play explores the life of British painter Edward Burne-Jones (1833–1898), caught between love, loyalty, and temptation, as the women around him take on mythic voices from Homer’s Odyssey. Inspired by Burne-Jones’ painting The Sirens (in the collection of the Ringling Museum), the play weaves together art, myth, and biography. 
Characters:

 • Edward “Ned” Burne-Jones (30s–50s): British painter, imaginative, torn between duty and desire. Passionate, self-doubting, visionary. 
• Georgiana “Georgie” (20s–40s): His wife. Wise, loyal, steady, with quiet strength.
• Maria Zambaco (20s–30s): Ned’s lover, beautiful, fiery, and volatile. His muse, she is the embodiment of dangerous passion

 • Elizabeth (20s–30s): Ned's mother who died after childbirth, a spectral presence. 

• William Morris (30s–50s): Poet, friend, and confidant to Ned and Georgie. Earthy, humorous, deeply empathetic. 

Audition Details: Prepare a 1–2 minute dramatic or classical monologue of your choice (need not be memorized). You will also be asked to do cold readings of sides from the play. Please bring in a resume and headshot.

Audition Locations 

• Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5:30-8:00pm: Room #102, ACE Building, New College of Florida, 5800 Bay Shore Rd, Sarasota, FL 34243. Directions: Park across the street from the ACE Building. Room #102 is on the first floor, on the side of the building closest to Bay Shore Road and across from one of the stairwells. 
• Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 8:30-10:00pm: Sarasota Contemporary Dance Company, 1400 Blvd of the Arts, Sarasota FL 34236. Directions: Please take the elevator outside of the Sarasota Ballet School up to the 3rd floor.)

 • Walk-ins accepted, if time permits.
