Vincent Victoria Presents the World Premiere of the drama "Just Lena"; a historical dramatization based the life of the legendary African American singer and actress Lena Horne.Horne, the first African American signed to M.G.M. studios during the Golden Age of Hollywood still faced major racism, which affected her ability to achieve true movie stardom unlike her friends and contemporaries Ava Gardner and Judy Garland.Still Lena Horne persevered and became a huge attraction in nightclubs, concerts, and on records.
Written by playwright Vincent Victoria, the play is set in 1973 on the set of the popular Television show Sanford and Son where Horne was a guest star and takes us on a journey through her distinguished career.
Show times are Friday and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 5 pm. Special Matinee performances at 12 pm Sunday June 30 and 3 pm Saturday July 6.
