Theatre Under The Stars is launching the Disney Musicals in Schools program in Houston, supported by a $150,000 grant from Disney. This initiative aims to provide public elementary schools in the Greater Houston area with the opportunity to produce Disney musicals at no cost, fostering a love for musical theatre among young students. Over the course of two years, selected schools will receive professional guidance and support from TUTS artists, culminating in a performance celebration at the TUTS stage. The program is led by TUTS Artistic Director Dan Knechtges and Executive Director Hillary Hart.
Founded by Frank M. Young in 1968, Theatre Under The Stars was created to serve the Greater Houston community through producing timeless classics and creating/developing new and innovative musical theatre. We will build upon this legacy and identify, cultivate, and nurture innovative programming, steward our long-time supporters, cultivate new audiences and future artists, arts patrons, and supporters.
