SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in TimeLine Theatre Company's 2022-23 Season (see breakdown).

We encourage all actors, regardless of identity, to apply for roles for which they view themselves as most fit.


INSTRUCTIONS

Please prepare a monologue no more than 2 minutes or two one minute long monologues. Please include both a phone number and email address on your resume. Email your headshot/resume along with your video submission link on a preferred platform (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) Please include a password if desired. In the email, use the subject line AEA GENERAL AUDITION and include any shows/roles in which you are specifically interested.

BREAKDOWN

Campaigns, Inc., by Will Allan

Directed by Nick Bowling

This play was originally in the 2020 season and all roles have bene cast. But we are looking for understudies.

Seeking:

Leone Baxter, 30 (She/Her) A brilliant, powerful woman who is the president of Campaigns, Inc. Leone is a fast thinker and talker.

Clem Whittaker, 30s (He/Him) He is the other half of Campaigns, Inc. Clem is a charming man who is trying to be okay with Leone being president. He can usually keep up with her, but just barely.

Upton Sinclair, 50s The Democratic nominee for Governor of California in 1934, Upton is a socialist - sort of the Bernie Sanders of his day. He is honest and caring but not a great politician.

Charlei Chaplin, 40s-50 (He/Him) The silent film star and dear friend of Sinclair, Charlie is brilliant, charismatic and at a point in his career when he's questioning his future.

Franklin Roosevelt/Others, 50s (He/Him) Franklin is president of the US. He is a ruthless, powerful man who loves his wife, but will do anything to stay in power.

Eleanor Roosevelt/Others, 50 (She/Her) Eleanor is the wife of Franklin. She is willing to break the rules in order to advance her favorite new politician, Upton Sinclair.

Frank Merriem, Late 60s. (He/Him) Frank is the incumbent Governor of California in 1934 and running for the job again. He is brash, ruthless, and willing to do anything to stay Governor.

George Hatfield, 50s (He/Him) George is the right hand of Merriem and seemingly a yes man, but he is also a snake in the grass.

Wiletta Mayer, 40s-50s, Black (She/Her) Plays the lead in the play within the play, Chaos in Belleville. Sings.

Millie Davis, Mid 30s, Black (She /Her) Stage actress who is married and says she does not need to work.

Sheldon Forrester, Late 60s–80s, Black. (He/Him) Character actor and aspiring songwriter.

Henry, Late 60s-80s, White. (He/Him) Stage Door man at the theater where the rehearsals are taking place.

Al Manners, Early 40s, White. (He/Him) The director of Chaos in Belleville.

John Nevins, 20s. Black. (He/Him) Actor making his Broadway debut in Chaos in Belleville.

Bill O’Wray, 40s to 60s. White. (He/Him) Actor who is also in the play.

Judy Sears, 20s. White. (She/Her) Naïve actress making her debut in Chaos in Bellville.

Eddie, 30s. White (He/Him) The stage manager of Chaos in Belleville.

Seeking:

Arthur Brooks, 30s-40s, Black. (He/Him) A Bartender. He is an optimistic, ambitious man from rural Alabama who dreams of becoming a movie director, perpetually on the brink of something great.

Dottie, 30s-40s, Black. (She/Her) She is Arthur's best friend, a maid at the Ambassador Hotel who could be a movie star if she wasn't a cynic of all dreams.

Hattie McDaniel, mid 40s, Black. She is the infamous actress who was the first Black person to win the Academy Award in 1940. She stops in the bar, questioning her past and future, moments before the biggest event in show business.
