Please prepare a 1 minute dramatic monologue. You may be asked to read from the script. Please bring 2 headshot/ resumes.

This is the inaugural production for Island City Theatre under the guidance of its Artistic Director, Andy Rogow in association with David Gordon at Empire Stage.

THE TWENTIETH-CENTURY WAY was awarded the 2011 PEN Award for Drama and the NY International Fringe Festival 2010 Award for Overall Excellence in Production of a Play, garnering accolades from the NY Times, Variety and others. Based on a little-known incident in Southern California history, this theatrical thrill ride explores the collision of reality and fantasy as two actors auditioning for a film, end up juggling various roles to entrap homosexuals for “social vagrancy” in 1914 Long Beach, California.

Seeking 2 men – excellent actors.

BROWN

20s, must be good with accents, specifically: Chicago, Upper English, Scottish, Scandinavian, Southern, Turkish, Italian

WARREN

30s, must be good with accents, specifically: Brooklyn, upper and lower English, German,

Both men play multiple roles using multiple accents, sometimes changing roles in a line. Fluidity and physical specificity play an important role in getting across these different characters with minimal props and costumes. Nudity Required.
