SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD - EQUITY VIDEO SUBMISSIONS

Artistry

CONTRACT

SPT $438 (SPT 5)

SEEKING

Artistry will kick off it's 2021-2022 season with Songs for a New World- the show that introduced Jason Robert Brown to the World! In the words of Jason Robert Brown, “Songs for a New World is about hitting a wall and having to make a choice or take a stand or turn around and go back. This show is a series of narrative songs linked by common themes and is an excellent vehicle for storytelling artists. Traditionally a cast of 4, Artistry will stage this with more performers to enhance the experience. “Songs for a New World has the power to connect an audience and reminds us through unique stories just how universal the human experience can be.”

We are seeking performers with strong vocals, able to navigate Jason Robert Brown’s tight harmonies, and some of which are experienced dancers.

Local Twin Cities actors encouraged to submit.

BREAKDOWN

Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism
Artistry Theater is grateful to be creating theater again with and for our community. As we prepare to re-open we are mindful of the events of the past 15 months - what we have lost and what we have learned. We are committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable space for all to see themselves in the magic of this art form we love. We are putting practices into place to make sure we are safe, have room to be brave and to create space that is intentional in its diversity and accessibility. Over the years Artistry has worked towards this commitment but we are aware that we have fallen short. To that end, we have added ongoing training and assessment from the board level to staff, production teams and ushers. We are creating opportunities for listening sessions with our alumni theater-makers to learn how we can continue to build upon the good work that was being done and to help us avoid the missteps and pitfalls that will set us back. We are committed to becoming a more anti-racist and equitable organization and invite you to join us on this journey.

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Artistry and the Director(s) encourage actors of all self-identified ethnicities to submit themselves for auditions. Please submit a video performing a brief song. Please feel free to sing a song of your choosing (jazz, pop, or musical theater), from the production, or in the style of the show.
